The Benefits of Keeping a Journal

The Benefits of Keeping a Journal
Journaling is a powerful tool for self-reflection. I started writing when I was 12, scribbling about school dramas and dreams. Over time, it became more than a diary—it’s a place to sort my thoughts. When I’m angry, writing helps me calm down; when I’m confused, listing pros and cons clarifies decisions. Journaling also tracks growth: reading entries from a year ago, I see how my perspectives have changed. Sometimes, I draw or paste photos in it, making it a creative outlet. My favorite part is looking back on happy moments—like the day I helped a friend, which I’d forgotten until rereading. Whether it’s daily notes or weekly reflections, journaling is a private conversation that helps you know yourself better.
